Downtown Merchants to Stay Open Late During Summer Event

Greene County native group, Pullin’ Strings, kicks off entertainment

(Greensboro, Ga. – June 5, 2015) Downtown Greensboro merchants offer extended hours for the third annual Pickin’ on the Greene music event on Friday, June 26.

Numerous downtown shops and restaurants will keep their doors open for continued shopping and dining throughout the evening of the third annual Pickin’ on the Greene. The Greensboro Better Hometown Program in partnership with the Greensboro Business Association presents Pickin’ on the Greene as the summer’s main event. This family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, children’s activities, vendors and of course, shopping and dining.

Whether guests dine at one of the local establishments, picnic on the lawn or shop in Lake Oconee’s Hometown, visitors will be able to enjoy the sounds of live music from performances by Pullin’ Strings and from 7-10 p.m. on North Main Street.

The event will open with live music from Pullin’ Strings, a local group that is no stranger to Greene County and has been a part of Pickin’ on the Greene since its inception. In fact, the band bills itself as Greene County’s favorite string band and has been playing together since 2009.

With their original southern roots and musical talent, the group’s sound can best be described as a bluegrass style with an eclectic fashion of incorporating different types of genres to create their one-of-a-kind sound. Featuring a set-list of their own originals and adding their own flare to American favorites, this all acoustic band is sure to get you tapping your foot and dancing along.

“We are looking forward to performing for locals and visitors from near and far,” said Marvin Payne, Pullin’ Strings upright bass player and community member. “We always have a lot of fun with it and are anticipating a good turn out.”

Pullin’ Strings is made up of Marvin Payne, Sibley Bryan, Brian Doty, Robert Lewis and their string instruments of the upright bass, acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocals.
