(Greensboro, Ga. – April 13, 2012)  Greensboro’s Potted Geranium Tea Parlor is featured in the April edition of Southern Living Magazine in a special feature about Georgia tea rooms.

Flipping through your copy of the well-known magazine, be sure the notice The Potted Geranium’s article and photos on pages 10 and 12 of the Georgia Living section.

Southern Living raves about the food that can be found at The Potted Geranium, commenting that the “utterly moist and rich signature scone is really part biscuit, part scone that weaves Southern and English traditions together in one bite.”

As you might imagine, The Potted Geranium’s owner, Laura Kanitra and her staff are thrilled to see their tea house in print.

“It is really fantastic to have a prestigious magazine like Southern Living recognize our efforts to create a unique tea experience,” says Kanitra.

Laura operates the tea house with the assistance of a top quality wait staff and formally trained pastry chef, Rebecca Wells.  Their work at the Potted Geranium is truly a labor of love for all of the staff.

“The ladies and I are excited to have been included in the magazine. The staff at the Potted Geranium works so hard to be the best. It is really a shared honor for us all!”

The Potted Geranium Tea Parlor opened for business in Downtown Greensboro in January 2009.  Laura and her husband Paul spent the year and a half prior to opening the tea house overseeing a painstaking restoration of the beautiful antebellum home and grounds on Greene Street.

“Bringing this beautiful house back to life as a top tier tea room has truly been a dream come true,” says Laura.

Laura’s attention to detail is apparent, not just in the beautiful setting and ambiance of the tea house, but also in the tea service itself.  A perfectly brewed pot of tea is served with every lunch selection, and Chef Rebecca’s fresh-made quiches and delectable pastries are a treat to be savored.

The Potted Geranium’s dream of being the best has not gone unnoticed.

Teamap.com, an online tea room directory, rates The Potted Geranium Tea Parlor in Greensboro as the #1 Tea House in Georgia.  Visitors to The Potted Geranium from as far away as Florida and South Carolina post reviews to the website boasting that the tea house is “exquisite”, “relaxing”, and the “gold standard by which all other tea rooms should be judged”.

In addition to being a highly regarded tea room, The Potted Geranium is a destination that brings visitors to Greensboro’s historic downtown from across the southeast; benefiting the entire downtown business community.

“The Potted Geranium is a wonderful asset for our downtown,” explains Greensboro’s Downtown Development Director, Cail Hammons.  “We are so proud of the work that Laura and her staff have done to bring the tea house to Greensboro.”

The Potted Geranium Tea Parlor is open Wednesday-Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.  Guests may choose a light lunch or full tea service.  Prices range from $16-$33, and reservations are recommended.  For more information, visit www.thepottedgeranium.com or call (706) 453-4979.
