Greensboro is recognized by the state of Georgia as a Main Street community and is certified as a national Main Street City by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Greensboro is actively engaged in efforts to promote and revitalize its central commercial district. The city's Downtown Development Authority leads the way in these efforts. The city works closely with the downtown business community through the Greensboro Business Association. In addition, the city's Historic Preservation Commission works to protect the city's historic resources while the Greensboro Tree Board advises the city on matters related to Greensboro's urban tree canopy.
